Dingbat Tuesday: Tiki Paradise in Redondo Beach

389 Palos Verdes Blvd, Redondo Beach

Wow! This is a fine example of a tiki themed dingbat apartment. Located at 389 Palos Verdes Blvd. in Redondo Beach, the Tiki Apartments were built in 1959. The building has been maintained well after almost 50 years. Lush jungle landscaping, giant tiki figures, and beautiful mosaic tiles make this building the finest I have ever seen. The Tiki has 45 total units. I’m not quite sure of the breakdown, but I’m guessing there are 30 1 bed/1 bath units, 10 2 bed/1 bath units, and 5 3 bed/2 bath units. Given the high rental rates in this neighborhood, I’m guessing this building throws off at least $70,000 monthly gross income. The current owners purchased the Tiki in 1991 for $650,000, it was a great investment! If you want to invest in some income property, email evan.gould@homes4hipsters.com and let’s discuss the possibilities! There are a billion photos after the jump.

Tiki gas torch!

The photo above is a detail of the gas torches that flank the pool tiki god. How fun would it be to have a party by the pool, bright orange flames licking the black night sky, with mai tai’s for everyone?!?

What a beauty

They sure don’t make them like this anymore! Hopefully, this building will be maintained and survive for a long time.
